is it nesscary to still modify the hood latch bracket if i use a small cap distrubtor, instead of the big cap hei?

does the dis hit he beacket or it is so it is easily removable?

Small cap here - I yanked the latch. Be SURE to remove the hook from the hood too or it will spike into the coil wire and give you fits. Ask me how I know

Just put hood pins where the bumpers are now - it's cake. Drill out the spotwelds carefully and you won't even leave holes...

Yup, pull out the latch. Even if it might clear with the small dizzy, it's still in the way. If you don't want to use hood pins you can use the jtr parts or fab them yourself, not difficult. I used a spot weld cutter to remove mine. It worked nicely, looks like a miniature hole saw with a spring loaded pointy nail in the middle. About $15 at the auto paint store.

It depends on how the motor is mounted. I am using the stock latch with my 350 and have no problems. I was told I would but it is fine for me. Try it before you cut.

I plan to move mine over, but for you folks with small body distributors and stock latches, there's Madson crossfire caps that are like the old Ford crab caps. They are offered for HEI too but don't look like they offer any height reduction with them.
