Z-Driver
Hi, I'm a new member so let me show you where I'm coming from. I'm an 18 year old college student with a part time job and I'm building a 260z and drive my 78 280z. This is my first project car and I did a lot of research on this. I like import cars, but can't stand kid's that spend 10grand on a delsol they think is fast. I have redone the brakes w/ toyota 4x4's, put in R1 racing seats, I recently got 17" 5zigen wheels w/ 225/45/17 kuhmo. I have shaved all trim, side markers and rear bumpers. I will be shaving drip rails and adding a motorsport fiberglass frnt bumper. If it sounds good, In a couple months I will take out a loan for about $3500 and buy a 385hp 350 from mark's performance on ebay. and buying a jegs th350 and selling the 280z once its all running to pay back the loan. I will also put in a r200 and all the JTR stuff to do this and hopefully I'll stay close to my budget. I would just like to know what your guys' opinions are on this. And also what can you tell me about general 0-60 & quarter mile times? what about with 150hp of nx. Thanks a lot.
Guest zfan
You said you are looking to buy a sbc 350 from Mark's motors on EBAY! You need to take a closer look at his track record! The guy sound like a thief!!! I to looked at him as a potential motor builder and after looking at his track record and contacting several customers of his I backed off fast. Do yourself a favor, if you want a good deal and a great motor buy a crate ZZ4 motor. Two of my Friends have ZZ4's and are very happy with theirs. Plus you get a gaurantee with it! Good luck what ever you decide to do. Mike
Mudge
If you wanted a drag car, I'd get something other than 17" wheels. If you want a road car, get a stick. You can build up more than 385 HP for less than you quoted, unless of course there is some reason you really want a particular setup. Getting something with a garauntee would probably be the way to go, if your buying brand new. For that price, I'd get an LT1, but if your anti computer-controlled vehicles then you can convert it to carb, or get something else right off the bat like an L98 and rip the EFI setup off.
