BRAD D
So i picked up a RX7 injector today to try and get more cc's to my RB26, but it looks like the pintle cap is 2mm too big. Other than that if would fit fine. The reason i picked one up is because RX7 injector's come in 550cc's and 680cc's and 720cc's. I know 720cc would be too big but the others would be nice. so my question is can I make the RX7 ones fit with a bigger rubber?, Is ther another cheep way out? can i run the RX7 ones with out the pintle cap? Or will I have to dish out 660$ min for some new Blitzs injectors (the lowest $$$ i could find)?
Nigel
Will the pintle cap fit into hole in the manifold, or are you just having trouble with the rubber seal? I bought some 460cc (heard they're really only 440c's though ) RX-7 injectors for my L28 turbo, but the pintle wouldn't fit (1mm too big in diameter). The fix was simple enough though, I just drilled out the holes in the manifold to make them fit. Mind you, I had the manifold on the engine at the time, so I hooked up my air compressor to the manifold and removed one old injector at a time and drilled out the holes. The escaping air blew the chips out as I drilled. Do this at your own risk of course! But it worked for me. As for the rubber seals, with a bit of grease, the L28 injector rubbers slipped right on. You could also try the RX-7 rubbers. I've no idea if any of that helps for your RB26... Nigel '73 240ZT
BRAD D
just got back from my car in the grage, and the RX7 injectors fit!!! just a bit tighter. I was just eyeing them up before. So now i will have it cleaned and flow checked. Thanks for your reply.
BRAD D
The injector I have is from an GLS-SE RX7. 680cc How much should I pay for them? If I can find some in junck yards I will get them for 10$, but the people who have them think they are worth 50-100$ and I can get NEW Blitz injectors for 110$
jgkurz
Nigel is correct about the RX7 injectors being 440cc. For some reason the Mazda folks seem to believe they are 460cc. I purchased 2 sets of (4) for my 77z. I had them all cleaned and flowed then picked the best (6). They all flowed 440cc @43.5 psi. All my injectors have red tops with p/n 19550-1350 on the side. The way I got around the pintle caps being 1mm too big was to sand the plastic down until they slid easily into the manifold. Each injector took about 200 turns on the sand paper , but in the end it was worth it. Regards
