Danno74Z
I just found this site/company that builds from scratch optispark replacement units. However, the price is a little steep at $595. I believe one can find an OEM unit for around $300 so this guy costs twice as much. Does one get twice the value and performance - that is hard to answer. "Each distributor is assembled and blueprinted in house using genuine GM electronic components and all receive thorough testing before they leave our facility to insure proper function. Absolute precision and care is executed by our professional staff in assembling and blueprinting each unit to exacting tolerances, so that the product you receive will deliver the performance we promise" http://www.dynotech-eng.com/dynaspark.htm Danno74Z
VRJoe
Pep Boys has a rebuild kit for around $190, If you have a '94 LT1 you can adapt the kit for vacuum like the '95 and up. There's info on this upgrade, I'd have to look it up again, but check the LT1 sites and you should find it. - Joe
Danno74Z
VRjoe, I agree with you! I'm far from endorsing this product, as I cannot see any true improvements over the original Optispark unit. In does come in four different anodize colors so one can coordinate their sparkplug wires to it . Just some food for thought. Guest JAMIE T
Danno, coordinating colors would be cool... IF YOU COULD SEE THE OPTISPARK!!! I just stuck with the '94 style Opti when I did the work to my car. It isn't worth the extra effort to swap it over to the '95+ set-up. You will need a new timing cover, Opti harness, Plus the Opti. The only real benifit it has is that it allows you to run a standard timing set when that time finally comes.
