CruxGNZ
I'm reusing the stock pistons on my 3.8 and would like to clean them up. The carbon build up is not coming off with degreaser or brake cleaner. Can I use some emery (sp?) cloth to clean all the crap off of the piston heads and then polish the surface? Or is there an easier way to do it? !M! Mudge
Carefull used of a razor blade for the first pass, and then I use a green/blue scrub pad for the rest. I dont see a need to get all of it off, although nice, just dont remove piston material. You also dont want to use something that will leave particles behind, like sand paper. Guest spunkysandoval
you can use a wire wheel to clean the tops off. and if you put some masking tap around the ring lands, you can bead blast the rest of the crap. You can also bead blast the tops. be very careful with the ring lands though.
