speeder
You guys with strokers: Did you lighten the crank or do any extra preparation other than the normal magnafluxing, ensuring straightness, correct journal size, and balancing? The LD 28 crank doesn't seem to be much heavier than the L28 - if any.
Z-Gad
When I weighed mine, I think there was a 2lb difference, leaning toward the stroker crank. I did not have any lightening done. I just had the crank magnafluxed, cleaned, polished, and had the rotating assembly balanced.
Guest MistressMotorsports
For a mostly street driven car, I think what you have mentioned is just fine. For the race car, we took some weight out, knife edged, and a few other small items to help durability at sustained high rpm. Well, actually not that high, since I shift at about 7000 rpm, but the motor's up there for long periods of time compared to a street car. You guys are of course right on the money with balancing the rotating assembly.
Guest JAMIE T
Do you have pics of your knife edged crank? I am getting ready to start prepping my block, crank, and rods for my stroker.
