4 or 5 bolt? hmmm

Well I can't decide what to do. A couple of weeks ago, I had never even thought about the five bolt conversion. Then I discovered ross's brake upgrade and it made me drool. I found out that his upgrade for 5 bolt is actually cheaper!! (as long as you go with solid disks) Well it would be pretty easy to go with the 5 bolt upgrade, but all the wheels I want still would require spacers. So I am thinking of getting the 4x100mm adapters so I can run honda wheels, and then getting the 4 bolt big brake kit later, when I get a better paying job! ;) Anybody got some experienced input and advice. I want to run kosei k-1 wheels in 17x7.5 or so. Don't think these are available in any offset that wouldn't need spacers. Plus, I don't like the idea of slip on spacers w/ the 5 bolt kit. Thanks!!!

The only thing I can think of, is that most of the Import wheels are about price and looks, not performance, so they are often heavy and I dont know how strong they are. Apperantly with the 5 bolt conversion Stang wheels are the way to go, 17x8" or 17x9" therefore could be used, the 9" wide is in question as far as true clearance, but it would allow use of a 275 wide tire if one so desired, and for me, I want rubber under the car.

There are all kinds of options though, I haven't sat down to put it all on paper, because I have engine stuff to deal with right now...

Well those kosei wheels don't weigh much, that's why I like them. I would like to get forged wheels, but those cost major bucks. I can't imagine that those cobra wheels are very light, as I am sure they are cast and look kind of bulky. So I bet they weigh about 20 lbs apiece or more, which isn't bad, but not good either. I just want about a 7.5" wheel so I can run 225's or 235's. Anything over that is overkill for me. Plus I don't like the idea of using anything that came off a mustang on my car!! :D

Ok, yeah if you want under 20# most cast American wheels are not for you. I have heard of rizer wheels in 7.5" weighing as much, or more than the big American cast wheels, that is lame. If you found a good set of reasonable price light wheels, go for it. They dont come with a dual bolt pattern?

Yeah, the kosei's don't have both bolt patterns, but it doesn't matter as you can't really get them in the right offset in 17's. Yeah some of those wheels out there ar a joke today, they weigh alot. You can usually tell though, most cast wheels with big blocky spokes, or 2 piece cast wheels, are gonna weigh alot. Have you seen the new Centerline sport-compact wheels? The 16's weigh something like 13 lbs, but they are some major $$ and are forged. I am leaning towards 4x100 wheel adapters right now, but we'll see.

I called Wheel Works in Florence, NJ 609-499-2233 as I was thinking of getting a larger steel rim added like Stockton Wheel does. He informed me he splits the rim and welds in a band. $90 for one side $125 for two and a little more for mag wheels. If you look at Z wheels the outside is about right but the inside leaves a lot of room. I'm looking for a set of Starion wheels and I'll see if I can add to the backspacing and gain some width.
