Guest Want aZ
Got a few questions for some of the experience on this site, 1. Is there a difference in the late 280 engines and those placed into the ZX's 2. Noticed a Diesel 280 Crank on ebay, the guy also has the rods to go with but it is in a seperate auction...Would it be feasible to place this crank / rod combo into say a 280ZXT, and make a 3.1 Turbo? 3. Was also wondering if anyone had ever messed around with possible 4 bolt mains, I do know that its possible to do this on 2 bolt chevys, as the outer 2 are "splayed" block gets drilled, tapped, New Main Cap, and presto!!! A bottom end stronger than the factory 4 bolt, Is this possible with the Z series engine, Just wondering??? 4. Have built several engines but all have been American V-8's, a mix of both Ford & Chevy, What is entailed in building a 3.1? and special machining that is required for clearance, especially in the bottom end? I am guessing since it is a Diesel that the main bearings are slightly larger / stronger? Does the block have to be clearanced??? 5. Hopefully you all can point me in the right direction...Much Thanks Damon
Z-Gad
Damon, do a search in both L6 and turbocharger categories and start reading. The turbo stroker is becoming more and more common and you can read up on other's trials and tribulations before beginning your own...
