j260z
remove the rear cover and look for the numbers stamped on the ring gear. divide the larger number by the smaller number and you will get the ratio.eg 37:10 would be a 3.7 and 39:11 would be a 3.54. CruxGNZ
This will help you out in the future. Yours is either a 3.54 or a 3.90 IF that is the stock rear end. 240Z 70-73 MT (3.364) (R180) 240Z 70-73 MT 5spd. Guest cw280z
i will pull the cover and look, thanks for responding...... since both cars are 81-83 mt i guess it is the exact same rear end. i will probablyuse the half shafts from the 2+2 though, because they are the cv type instead of u-joint like the ones on my 81 now. thanks again. Guest 3154tm
wish there was this much information about the various applications and ratios for the R230, especially in the Infinity. they came in the Q45 and maybe in the J30. the all seem to be vlsd with taller ratios than the Z version. 3.70 and 3.54? 1990 to 1998? some had traction control and some didn't. wonder if they are all interchangeable? are critical external dimensions the same? the taller ratios might be nice for those of us with street cars. frank
