Guest Pyrogen_007
I got a 82 280ZX GL non turbo 5 spd 116k miles Good cylinder pressures on all. we have replaced pretty much everything ignition. We cleaned out the fuel sender and lines from the tank. the Fuel pump runs and Good fuel pressure at the rail(replaced regulator and got face full of gas). Replaced TPS. Engine also backfires we assume its due to the exhaust leak but can't rule it out I guess. Haynes Manual's generic troubleshoots states its the ECU or AFM. What kind of accelleration should I be expecting when the car runs right? Comparable to my 69 Charger R/T about 13s in 1/4 mi or my 01 Dakota R/T low 15 in 1/4 mi?? Thank you for any help. Guest Aaron
Sounds like the AFM. Before you replace it, check the connections to it and to the computer. You should also double check the connections at the tps, cylinder head temperature sensor, knock sensor, water temp sensor. These can get corroded and cause strange problems. You may want to check your fuel filter. Often, when it clogs, it will give good pressure at idle, but will restrict flow at higher RPM's. FYI, if you have to replace the AFM, they are different between turbo and non turbo.
Guest cw280z
did you set it? if water gets in the tps(after washing?) it will do the same thing... mine did same thing @2500rpm,it was water.
