Guest 400 ci 280z
does anyone know if you can get a t-56 to bolt to a 69 pont 400? could you drill t-56 bolt pattern into a lakewood bellhousing? i know there are almost no pont guys here but just trying to see if anyone can help. Guest Anonymous
Maybe a aftermarket T56 that can bolt to a T5 style bellhousing, you may want to check with say the GTO guys and see if any of them have done it. The clutch is so screwy and different on the T56 compared to like the T5's and T10's that it would make it difficult but not impossible to hook to a lakewood bellhousing, at least IMHO. That said, someone hooked one up to a L6 datsun, so I suppose anything is possible if your willing to fabricate it. The pull style clutch disk is unlike anything I'd seen before. Good luck with it, like I say I'd ask the pontiac performance guys, do a search on GTO's, I'm sure you'll find someone who's done it, or is doing it, or has researched it. It may be as simple as a engine/trans adapter plate and some fancy use of GM clutch parts. Regards, Lone

Guest Anonymous
A T56 will not I repeat not fit a 69 400. However they make an adaptor kid, however I dont feel they make one for a 69 BOP (Buick Oldsmobile Pontiac) Join the ratrace and drop a SBC or even a GN Turbo like Scotty.....either way they both a good idea over a pontiac 400! Use the Chevrolet force to conquer the opposing enemy!

Guest Anonymous
Don't get me wrong, Pontiac 400's especially 69's are very popular sought engines. If you find a pontiac fan I am sure they will give you good money for the block so you can seek a killer engine replacement. Good luck
Guest 400 ci 280z
thing is i want to use my pont engine if i can use the t-56 or not. i does not matter to me what trans i use but i want to try to get the t-56 to fit. yes i know that this is very uncharted territory useing the pont engine but no big deal. hopefully after i get this done i will be able to help others out with these. sorry if i sound mad but i am not and i know you are just trying to make it a little easier and cheaper for me so thank you for trying to help. fastzcars
hi 400ci. You can try a aftermarket T56. they will fit a t10 or a T5 bolt pattern bellhousing. I got mine from fortes parts. I beleive they can make them fit mopars, fords, and even AMC. Good luck.
