Gdemirchy
I am thinking of turbo charging my 72Z, but with blow trough four barrel cab. Has any one ever done that ? and how much boost a four barrel carb can handle ? thaks Andre
Guest JAMIE T
Check with some of the carb shops like Barry Grant, Devinci, AED, etc... They can tell you the information you're looking for They can build you a carb specifically for blow through turbo/supercharging. I think the main thing is pressurizing the entire carb inside a box. Lockjaw
I think you need to have the fuel pressure set up so that it goes up in proportion to boost. Ie if you need 5 psi for a holley, then when you add one pound of boost, fuel pressure needs to be 6 psi. Personally, I would find another way, or do a draw thru. Guest Anonymous
If I'm not wrong, there was an article in Grassroots motorsports... in the vicinity of 8 months ago. The car was called Gumby-Z, it was a spray-can painted 240z with a turbo'd 4bbl. Will look and see if I still have it around.
Guest Zcarsmakemyheadhurt
It has been done a few times I have played with a Holly on boost, I like the clifford 6=8 intake and size the carb to the turbo you are going to use. The Holly would need to be worked for boost, the floats need to be filled to avoid being crushed by boost, bowl extenders are needed and a few other tricks. The Plenum needed to put boost threw the intake and car goes for $67.20 I have it in stock. You also need a regulator that converts hi fuel pressure to low and references boost. Lots of tricks need to be done for A carb on boost but they do work well. If you need help on making the project happen, let me know. I have most of the parts in stock.
