Guest Anonymous
is the l24 block essientally the same as the l28? could you bore and stroke an l24 out to 3.1 and have it be done just as safly as an l28? are the blocks the same besides the bore size? I am asking because i have a 240z and I want a 3.1 but it would be alot simpler to just bore and stroke my existing motor rather than getting an l28 to do the work to. Guest Anonymous
comon guys... an l28 is pretty much just an l24 bored over .120" well could you possibly bore it another .120" over to make it an L31? is this possible? or should I just forget the idea? yo2001
you probably won't have enough cylinder walls to make a 3.1L out of L24. But other than that they are physically same size
Guest Anonymous
ya thats what I was thinking...but if they are the same size then why not enough cylinder wall?...hmm....
Doug71zt
Hi Initial- The L24 block has different cylinder liners than the L28, therefore not enough meat to go to 89mm. You could bore in .080 oversize probably, but would end up around 2.8L with an LD28 crank. Start with the block with the largest factory bore - L28. If you are going to 3.1L, use a F54 (turbo) block Hope this helps - Doug
Guest Anonymous
ok thanks alot for the insight. I guess I will just shell out the few extra bones for a l28.
