Guest gbvol54
In the past you've recommended a Comp Xtreme 262 cam for a lift limited stock Vortec head sbc 350 with 9.5 static CR, performer rpm intake and quadrajet carb. I was headed in that direction but have found a couple nicely priced complete kits with different cam options: (1) single pattern, 222 dur @ .050, .467 lift, lobe separation of 110. (2) dual pattern, 214/224 dur @ .050, 443/465 lift, lobe sep of 112. Will either of the above get me around 350 hp @ 5500 rpm while maintaining a decent idle? grumpyvette
both cams will get close to the same power range (350-360hp), IF.. your useing block hugger type shorty headers not the stock exhaust manifolds on that engine the cam # 2 (looks like a summit or melling grind) will get you to 350hp and idle much smoother that the other one but neither one will idle perfectly smooth. but cam #2 is the better choice. Guest gbvol54
Thanks Grumpy. I'm glad I asked. I would have leaned toward number (1). I'll be using block hugger headers and 350 hp should suit my needs fine. Again, thanks for your help.
