Are Panasports made in US or Japan?

Recommended Posts

got some rims that look identical to panasport in weight and design, no center caps, and no monicker on the back of the rim. The only stampings on the rim indicate MADE IN JAPAN, and the size, which is 14x7.

Until I saw the back of the rim, I was 100% certain they were panasports...now I'm wondering if they really are. I always thought panasports were american made, am I wrong? here's the culprit in question:

those look a lot like Minilites...

I don't think they are...aren't Minilites made in Britain? I am puzzled at these wheels too--the do look just like Panasports but ar made in Japan. They are reasonably light and came from an autocross Z car.

Minilites are made in Britain; my Panasports are made in japan' date=' and have Panasport Racing and and "made in japan" cast into the wheel.

Many thanks, John C! That means that these are the real deal and are truly Panasports! 14" x 7" perfect for a 510 or 240Z for that old school look---ebay here it comes :D

How much do they weigh? If the bare wheel is about 16#'s' date=' I'd guess they're real Panasports. If they're up about 20#'s, probably knock-off's. My 15x7's weigh 17#'s.

With the tires on, they feel very light. I hope to sell them with the tires so I don't have to do any unnecessary work. Although I have not weighed the wheel and tire, I'm willing to bet these are the real deal. Thanks for the info!!
