Guest De Schmaydee
....somebody shoot me!....this thing is really pissing me off....been having all kinds of probs (no doubt self inflicted) since the install of this jwt ecu...the worst being stumbling/stalling and fast idle....the thing will not idle at less than 1k hot or cold....i can see the 1k idle cold but it doesnt go away when it warms up.....used to before this z31 ecu was put in....but i could have done something wrong... ...whats is needed for the z31 to drop the idle?.........s
Bernardd
Is your air regulator getting 5vdc at key on? Try squeezing it with pliers to close it and it should drop the rpm if that's the problem. Does it rev beyond 2k? If not then the maf is connected wrong or faulty. Check on z31.com for the diagnostic procedure for the ecu. It may tell you what's wrong. You changed all the stuff they asked for right? Cas wheel, some wiring, fuel pump relay?
Guest De Schmaydee
...no voltage at the the air regulator....it supposed to close as it warms up doesnt it?.......it revs past 2k and pulls hard once it warms up (and stumbles ). did all the things you mentioned...the fuel pump will run 5 sec. then shut off in the on position so i figure it may be right...the z31 disc is in and properly oriented (right side is up)...i swapped wiring for the 2+5 injs and wired the maf right..... .....i havent heard of anyone else having any probs w/these...so it must be something i did wrong....but i cant see it.... i've about had it w/this thing....i would really be doing myself a large favor to bite the bullet, tear it out and fix all the crap i had to rip out to get this in....send it back and tell 'em to kiss-off....the car ran absolutely perfect before i put this in..... the blink codes dont appear to work...both leds flash (neither led flashes by its self its always both)...the codes represented either dont exist or are not listed....... ...s
Bernardd
After it's warmed up and you squeeze the air reg does the idle go down? You should have a switched 5vdc across the connector. Check continuity to the ecu. It would take a long time for the reg to close if it rely's on the engine to warm it up. Also check to make sure the little screw on the side of the ecu isn't fully clockwise or counterclockwise. Not sure which but one of them puts you in diagnostic mode and the other way is to test a/f mixture at idle.
Guest De Schmaydee
...really appreciate the help bernard......i found a leak in the hose going to the aac and replaced that.....it seems to run strong now once its warmed up......when i squeeze the hose on the air regulator it has no effect......and there is no voltage at the regulator..... ........however they did send the ecu w/the dial set all the way counter-clockwise (or the opposite of the "codes" mode).....i looked at the codes didnt seem like they were accurate.....i put it back to its original position...(all the way in the opposite direction).....there the green led would flash 3 times repeatedly....setting the dial anywhere in the middle didnt seem to make any difference w/it just sitting there idling....where/how should it be set? Bernardd
Did you check timing and fuel pressure? And it's odd that you don't have voltage at the regulator. Try squeezing the hose on reg when the car is cold. Tps would be my next guess once the other stuff checks out. It should go open around 900 rpm. I don't know exactly where the dial is supposed to be. Sounds like they've eliminated that function.
Guest De Schmaydee
....i think the dial doesnt fully function....i'll try the hose thing when its cold....i have found the ground pin for the regulator at the ecu.... but not the +5vdc..... i think if i can get the +5 to the regulator...it oughtta do the trick (maybe)....i'm decided to replace all the hoses on the components on the manifold too (after i found the leak on the aac) some need to be blocked off..... ...i have a new fuel rail to go on it...that has a fuel pressure gauge on it...the f-pressure seems good though.... actually it runs well after it warms up... i'm gonna have to go to school on this ecu..... really appreciate the help.....s
