Graeme
Ok, I have a 327 in my zed and have just started it. The engine is running fine and sounds good, but when I rev it up it starts to make a high pitched whurring sound that seems to be in sync with the engine revs. I removed the fan belt thinking it was the alternator or water pump but it still does it. I am thinking it is the timing chain perhaps rubbing on the block???? The car has plenty of oil pressure and the valve train has plenty of oil. Any help from the forum would be great. Thanks graeme

fl327
did you build the motor yourself? maybe it has a gear drive, which would sound like a blower which sounds like what you said. you said it revs fine and has oil pressure, so i already ruled out in advance spun bearing. water pump pulleys out of alignment
Graeme
yeah good idea, and it doesnt have power steering so that rules that out. It is definately coming from the front of the engine.
Graeme
yes did the top end myself and it has a rollmaster timing chain with competition cam and lifters. i thought maybe the rollmaster cam gear may be rubbing against the block.
