PETEW
That site is pretty cool. Not only does he have pictures of that ugly vette, but he has a page were he is doing a synthetic oil test. The basis of the test is how long can you keep synthetic oil and a filter in a car before it degrades to the point of needing to be changed. He is using NAPA gold filters and Mobil 1 right now (he will try Amsoil, royal purple, and redline). The car is a 2002 Camaro with LS1 engine. He put 12k mi on the same filter and oil before the lab said it was time to change. He is still using the oil he just changed the filter and should have a report soon. VERY interesting stuff. You guys can come to own conclusions, but I have always been a firm beleiver is synthetic.
Synlubes
Extended drain intervals are the appeal to most using synthetics, as well as the better protection they offer. It doesn`t apply to all lubes, some of the "synthetic lubes" out there aren`t going to cut it. Oil analysis and changing the filtration (oil and air) is what makes longer drill intervals possible. Here is a link to Amsoils record for the most miles on there lubes. http://www.amsoil.com/testimonials/409000.htm
