Gasket ?

Alright, there is a new company out called next gear. They make intake gaskets for imports. I have a small block 400, and was told that the intake gasket has to be the percise depth by someguy, not a specailist or anything. These are about 3/8s of an inch thick and uhmw plastic. It does work. I was at the dyno testing for a 2002 civic si. With it, it peaked 11hp gain in the middle of the power band, and about 5 tourqe gain at the beginning of the power band. They are going to special make me one. How it works is it keeps the intake manifold much cooler than the head. That way when the air is mixed with fuel it is still very cool. If it has a gasket, you can put your hand on it even after heavy running and you will not get burned. There is another plastic that they have found that has a better insulating plastic and is thinner, but it hasn't been tested on seal strength yet. I dont think that I wanna be the first one to test it either. Nopi is going to either have them next month or the month after. They really do work. Right now that have most made for the honda engine family, which includes acura.

Oh yeah, it's a fuel injected corvette engine. I think it's one of the late 80's model. I can get an engine code if you think it makes that much of a difference. It also has an aluminum head.

The intake gasket for a V8 engine needs to be thin. If you put a thick gasket in it then it will leak at the valley seal. Even if they make a thick valley gasket the bolts would no longer line up and the ports would be mismatched. These type gaskets can be used on inline engines but not V type engines. By the way the 80's Corvettes were to my knowledge all 350's not 400's. You would either have a TPI or a Cross Fire injection setup. The Cross Fire was only used for a couple years so most Likely you have an L-98 350 if it is from a Vette.
