philUK
edit - just realised this is in the wrong section - could it be moved to drivetrain please? Hi, Just got my new car about a week ago, its the 1JZ engined car from australia that had the zoom articles written about it.. Anyhow, it has competition ceramic, spring centred clutch fitted. ). I was told that the clutch will slip if released slowly, but if 'popped' out quickly it will hold, and this is a feature of the clutch. Has anyone heard of this? I was told it was to stop it being too harsh, and stop it being either 'on' or 'off'. I was given a 6-puck solid centre clutch plate as well that the previous owner said was a bit harsh for the street.. does anyone think it would be worth swapping this back? guess I'll have to get used to driving it this way in the mean time!! Many thanks! philUK
ZROSSA
Wow Phil! Thats a bloody long way to go for a zed! Might even be a record! I cant help you out with the clutch, but i wouldnt mind hearing more about your set up and your impressions on how it goes. I think you will get tonnes of questions about that set up. A lot of people have talked about it but not many have done it. Cheers Douglas
BLKMGK
COOL! I have those Zoom articles up on my site if anyone is interested. PLEASE take some pics and tell us more about the car! I really want a JZ powered Z one day - perfect motor for the car IMO. Is that car running a single turbo or the twins? More info wanted for sure. 5spd right? As for the clutches - I'd leave that one in. The ceramic clutch will take getting used to but the solid one would be worse I think.
philUK
Cheers! It has taken me since christmas to get the car imported, and registered over here. Had my first real drive of it on Saturday just gone, and was great.. I was a little tentative, as it is a bit scary fast even at 11 psi, but I'm sure I'll enjoy getting used to it! I had a little difficulty gettingthrough the MOT inspection because of the welded in adjuster on the rear control arms, but I took it to a different place for a second opinion and they thought it was fine! I'm trying to get the issue numbers of the zoom articles, do you have them BLKMGK? would love to have the originals. Must admit it was from your site that I first fell in love with the car! Need to do a good clean up of the car, then I'll take some pics. was actually a car show I went to on saturday, got some funny looks I must say, especially when they heard the blow-off valve coming from it!
