Guest Anonymous
Just wondering if anyone has dropped the VK45DE engine from a Infiniti Q45. Its a big 4.5-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 with aluminum-alloy block and heads and molybdenum coated pistons, and pushes around 340hp. If someone has done this before, I want to know how much work was involved, as well as what was replaced in order to run this engine. - What transmission used? - What rearend used? Thanks a lot. I thought it would be nice to get a V8 from the same family, and not use the domestic alternatives.

fl327
problem with that engine is liimited output, and only automatic trans available, r200 rear would be fine, shoot the r180 would even be ok for a while. no fancy engines without boost for me though. Guest Anonymous
cool, i guess anything is possible. I only ask because I have access to one of these engine. It's not exactly what I want, but if i can get it for cheap, i thought why not.

If you have links to some discussion about it, can you post it here, because I'd like to get some info about it.
Guest Dan0myte
That would be extremely expensive for an engine that new. You could do a full MKIV Supra swap for the cost of a VK45DE. I'd suggest the VH45DE, it's cheaper and still a great engine.
Guest Anonymous
i guess it would be more be more practical and economical if i went with a Nissan six cyl. I was just curious because I can get the V8 for pretty cheap.
mtcookson
if i remember correctly the auto tranny used in the older Q's is the same auto tranny used in the TTZ so i'm sure it would fit. Nissan uses the same bolt pattern for a lot of their engines which is really cool. edit: forgot my point of this reply. 300zx TT 5-speed should fit. that should handle 600 hp stock.
