Guest Anonymous
Hi z-bee's, first post. I just got a Goodwrench 350 4 bolt main with a stock 4-barrol Q-jet carb. what's a good performance intake to go with? what's a good carb to go with? Does JTR sell a good price(cheap)set up? grumpyvette
the q-jet can be tuned to work very well if your interested in saveing some money and we really need more info about the car, gearing, transmission, cylinder heads, cam, and intended rpm range and what your goals are before a good intake choice can be made correctly
Guest Anonymous
I'm using one, good motor for the dough (new under 1300.00). Heres a reprint of a build-up of a Goodwrench using factory parts to the tune of over 408 hp: http://www.aros.net/~rbuck/chp/Welcome.html A little background, the goodwrench is a 73-85 replacement 350. It has a 4bolt main and nodular cast crank. Its hecho in mexico, but the quality appears to be ok. Its downfall is the heads, it has 76cc low compression chambers and 1.94" valves. By merely adding better heads and cam, the engine can come alive and rather cheaply, according to another article on them, the rods are also Powdered Metal which is supposed to be pretty strong from what I understand. With 58cc cylinders you can get the compression to about 10-1 or slightly better (stock is 8.4-1, but the article said it was much closer to the 7.9-8.0) Remember that its a cast crank, so don't go crazy RPM wise, and it'll live fine. How's it go? Pretty good, mine needs sorting of the carb after looking at the Air Fuel meter I put in, it appears like theres more HP waiting once I get to the jetting, its lean as hell in the secondary (soon!). HP wise, it was 250 stock from the factory, with the stealth intake and 600 holley about 260 maybe. Torque? How does double what a stock Z had about 300 ft lbs. Trust me the car gets your attention. See my website for my swap. If your considering the swap, first stop is JTR ( www.jagsthatrun.com ) and get the conversion manual, read it FIRST cover to cover a few times and you'll have a far better idea (but not exact trust me) of what your expenses might be with the project.
