Ok people. This site rocks!! Just thought I'd say that cause this site rocks :D

Now for my question. I have a 1973 240 with an L28E from a later year i think 82 or 83. I also have a 400sbc that is sitting there waiting to be rebuilt into a 450hp or so firebreather. Rear end in the car is R200 with 4.11 gearing. What I want to know is what steps should I do the the suspension in order to handle 450hp and that if not a little more torque(possibly 450-480) . Also I am deciding on whether to use the M22 4speed or a T56 6spd. Probably going to go with the T56 because of overdrive gears. I would like a relatively stiff suspension. Thanks for your help.

Also I need the chassis to be able to handle alot of full load launches because my right foot likes the feeling of being shot out of a cannon  (used to own a 2000 SS Camaro but <--- is waaay too much insurance wise)

ill be the first person to say, make sure the car is a straight/square body, then add a good, good roll cage. The earlier model 240/260 twist much easier than the 280 because the frame is weaker. The launching is your big problem, its anytime you push that car through a turn, which you woudl probably do given how much fun it is. The g-forces on the body from hauling ass in a twisty is much worse than a harge launch. as for suspension, the most common upgrades are coil overs, but a cage is highly recommended. There is a guy in Atl. pushign 350 dyno proven rwhp, he just used cut coil springs and adj struts. but he also used the fatty roll cage.

Where did you get this "fatty" roll cage and how thick would one want the tube stock to be?

A friend of his made it, dont know him, just know the guy who owns the car. Steve Huetter, green car, the "gumby" car. im not sure all the tubing in his car is the same size. I dunno, Another guy is building a cage for me, his name Is David Batson, he fabs all kinds of crap for everything from 66 impalas to 2002 hyundai tiburons, he makes cages, turbo manifolds, tube frames, custom brackets, custom piping, he paints and does body work, this guy is a one stop shop, if your in the Atl area but if you are, shoot me a pm and ill give you his number.
