Calling all Canadian's,

I'm on PEI and am trying to hunt up some parts for my 76 280Z, i'm wondering if any of you fellow canucks might have any suggestions for me...

Thanks in advance...

Well usually I hit the wreckers. There are quite a few Z's in canada, most have rusted out and are in the wreckers. Also, its fairly common out west to see parts cars for sale, or cars in someones field, etc. There are enough cars on Vancouver Island at this point that I know of, through my car club and others, that parts aren't too hard to find. PEI may not have a similar infastructure for Z cars, but I'll bet getting parts out of Ontario, Quebec, etc. is very possible.

I'd try to track down some Z car clubs in neighbouring provinces and start there.

Thx for the reply Drax240z,

They are very few and far between on the island from what i've found out so far, i haven't dug to deep but i've never heard of a Z-Club in the maritimes but i'll look into that allot closer...

VERY NICE Ride man, mine is in VERY bad shape but i'm hopeing to change that over the next year or so, at least the body part of it, i'm not sure yet what i'm going to do for power, so many options, so little money....lol

Anyway thx again!

BC dosn't seem to have the cars rust out quite as quickly as other parts of Canada. (Therefore there are still some rusty ones in the junkyards out there) I'm from Manitoba and to find a Z here is pretty slim pickin's most of the Z's around here have been shredded long ago. I was in a few junk yards in BC a couple years ago and I found there to be alot more stuff then anywhere around here. I imagine that the east coast would be similar to here, if not worse. What kind of parts are you after anyway? Depending on what you want it might be easier to buy new stuff from VictoraBritish or MSA although with the dollar exchange and shipping that can be extremely costly. The dealer is a good place to go if you want body panels. To buy original Nissan stuff here is cheaper than buying that made in Taiwan aftermarket stuff once you pay on the US dollar and get it shipped. If you want mechanical parts you might have more luck looking for 280zx's as they are newer and and might still be a couple in the boneyards. Alot of the engine/trans stuff is the same or similar (if you know what to look for)

Thx GrayZee,

Yea same here, very very rare indeed, I have no interior at all so that all has to be replaced, even the head liner...

I have a ton of work to do before I even have to think about stuff.

What would a rear quarter panel be worth at the dealer and how long does it take them to order them?

I have a VB catalogue on it's way..

Thx for the reply...

I don't have a clue about the prices of quarter panels, You'll have to go to your local Nissan dealer and ask for yourself. However I can tell you that Victoria wants $150USD for a front fender. I ordered two of them and by the time I paid the exchange rate, shipping, taxes, and fuel to drive to the border and pick them up it cost me about $700(Winnipeg is only a hour or so from the border and there was a broker about 5min down the road from the border that charged me $10 for allowing me to use him as a middle man) You wanna avoid using UPS because they will tack on crazy brokerage fees just to bring a package over the border. My bodyman cursed those fenders cuz they didn't exactly fit very good and ended up playing about with them for a couple days just to get them to fit properly. I would have bought them from Nissan but when I went down there they told me that those items were obsolete and couldn't be ordered. However a year later I had a accident with the car and my insurance company was giving me a hard time and wanted to write the car off. I went to the dealer to get some price quotes just so that I could get some hypothetical figures to give the insurance company on repairing my car. Well turns out they say that these parts ARE available. Apparantly Nissan got a better computer and part numbering system and now they could actually track these parts down. Or so that is the story they told me anyway.. I don't remember exactly what the price was now but I know that is was more than $150CND but is was considerably lower than the $350 that I had to fork out for one made in Taiwan fender that never fit properly, where as the OEM Nissan fender fits beautifully. Ordering a part like that from the dealer could take quite a while though as the part would likely come from Japan. Pehaps a month or more? Check with the dealer first but here's a link you might also wanna try

I've never dealt with these guys but one very good thing about them is that they are in Canada (Bolton Ontario) and for us Canucks that can save alot of Bull-Hockey! If you wanna get a price from them I suggest that you just phone them as the last time I emailed them I never did get a reply. 905-857-6345

Here is another Ontario based place to buy Z stuff:

http://www.datsunzparts.com/start.htm

They are known for making replacement floor and frame rails

Hope some of this helps you out dude.. L8er!
