Guest needwaymorespeed
Hi guys nayone with a dyno program could you please run these two cams for me . engine 406 sbc carb 830 holley annular intake vic jr heads dart pro-1 flow as follows intake exhasut .200 136 113 .300 197 160 .400 253 196 .500 287 217 .600 301 227 valves 2.08 1.60 compression 10.51 intake port runner size is 221cc headers are 1 and 3/4 primaries 3 in collectors have 2.5 in exhaust trying to pick between two cams they are both solid rollers this is from isky .615 intake and exhaust ivo 22 ivc 52 evo 63 evc 21 specs at .o50 108 lobe sep 254 and 264 duration at .050 the 2nd cam is a schneider cam .577 lift intake and exhaust ivo 34 ivc 70 evo 74 evc 30 these specs are seat to seat 110 lobe sep both cams run .022 lash strait across what does this due to the aforementioned figures -how much duration does it loose? leaning towards the schneider cam but realy respect the tech guy at isky and value his recomendation. want the car to run 2500 to 6500 plan on doing the power tour,my elevation that I do most of my driving at is 4500 ft thanks alot Curtis
grumpyvette
a quick guess by my custom computer program says sea level hp/tq #s cam (1) will be at about 530hp/495 tq cam (2) will be at about 530hp/510 tq
Guest needwaymorespeed
Thanks grumpy do you happen to have the rpm range on those figures?? Im kind of surprised I thought the first cam smaller schneider would do better. Thanks alot appreciate it Curtis

grumpyvette
the schnider cam torque peaks near 4500rpm and hp reaks at 6000rpm the isky torque peaks at around 5500rpm and hp peaks at 6600rpm the schnider cam is by far the better match to a 406 engines piston speed rpm limits and cylinder filling efficiency, flow curve, and its somewhat doubtfull that the isky cam would really run on the street that well for trips if its most effective in the 6500-7000rpm range, btw both cams are really not ment as street driven cams, might I suggest the CRANE #119651 hydrolic roller cam, true it will drop your peak power to about500hp/520 tq but it will raise the torque at 2000rpm from about 260ft lbs with the other two cams to about 420ft lbs at 2000rpm and be far easier on your valve train (important on a power tour)as its a HYDROLIC ROLLER it peaks the torque at about 4500rpm and hp at about 5000rpm http://dab7.cranecams.com/SpecCard/DisplayCatalogCard.asp?PN=119651&B1=Display+Card replaceing broken valve springs in turkey strut oklahoma or blue hills wisconsin can be very difficult
