Guest Anonymous
I have been reading this forum for months and im amazed at the vast amount of knowledge and experiance there is here. From what iv read if you all got together you could put together a complete manual that is more extensive than anything else out there. I dunno the thought just crossed my mind
DavyZ
A number of members were going to make a FAQ sheet, but life got in the way for a lot of people. The JTR manual is the closest thing to a 'manual' that anyone here has, except for the cool websites that many have put up. JTR for basics, members websites for the details... Guest kc6wfs
Ya the JTR book is our bible. But would be neat to write up a sup for it going into coilovers, rear disk brakes, roll bars, trans options, ford motors, various chev motors ls's lt's, ect. ect. ect. I'll get started on compiling!!! jeromio
The FAQ went waaaay by the wayside. You can find what there is of it here: http://240z.jeromio.com/faqdraft I'm glad that the JTR manual exists, but, yeah, it isn't all that great. Then again, you don't see me putting a book together. I am willing to add any info to the FAQ that is there. I'm really basically lazy though, so it's probally only gonna get in if there's either an addition to something already there, or you send me something in a Question + answer format. Guest kc6wfs
Hi Jeromio, Thats a fantastic start!!! Lots of good stuff in there. I'd be willing to add to it if you can email me the html and I'll add to it. Then if it's ok with you i'll add it to my site and edit it till we can get it installed here when it's done. What do you think? I'll keep updating it. But I think the faq you have started looks great!!! Dave
grumpyvette
not a bad idea, with all the combined talent available on this site it would be fairly easy
jeromio
JohnC contributed most of the content that's there. I just (re)formatted it and comiled it together with some other info. A few other people here added some info too. I'll send you an email.....
Guest Anonymous
Yes that is a very good start Jeromio Oki just some ideas that popped into my head while i was in the shower... (sorry i cant spell) This is all just theory if there is not enough intrest in something like this. My main idea for this is not just a conversion manual for sbc but more of like a general "How to modify your Z" There are already manuals out there so I think it would be good to cover stuff that these leave out and also stuff on fords mopar ect.. that arnt realy avalible anywhere. Also covering in detail stuff like chassis, suspention, brakes, ect... modifications with lots and lots of pictures. Being optomistic if this is a success then a web site I think would be needed. Have the manual for sale along with other books and parts needed for different mods along with an FAQ. If this ever happens i think it would be best to keep this non-profit. I can just see this would fail if we had to figure out how to split profits. The proccedes would be used to pay for distro of the book, website bandwidth and such, reinburse people for expences of there controbution. For example say jo does the section for coil-overs, if recipts are kept like reimburse for that, this would also be an incentive for people to help with this project. Now after it is all said and done and this is realy realy successful, give the exess to a charity or something. Maby even give a cut to hybridz.org, because i know this would never happen if this board didnt exist. First would be to have a gathering of interested parties to discuse how this is goin to work, deligate different sections and such. If everyone is from all over the usa then someplace central like texas, or if it is more centralized for example cali. Then still communicating over the net afterwards. After like 6 months or so get back together and see what happens. I realize this would be a mass undertaking and would require allot of time and effort. But i think it would be worth it. Just think of it this way, fred for example thinks these kina mods are way to complicated and he could never do it. Now it would be like this stuff is realy complicated, but i think with a lot of time and effort i can do it. Oki im gunna stop sorry for the rambling, hehehee. I just think this world would be a much better place with more Z people out there =) Eh......think I made somethin complicated outa a simple thing. I was just realy excited when i wrote this. =)
danj
I have been a HybridZ member for a couple of months and think that I learned more about my ZX in that time than I did since I purchased it in 1983 . Using all the topics that have been covered in this forum I do searches that combine Q&A by key words and find a wealth of knowledge being exchanged. If someone wanted to take the time to do an outline by various topics and combine all the questions and answers related to that topic, then do some polishing and editing I think we would have a manual. We could publish a draft and have members respond to each topic to make sure every subject is thoroughly researched and all relevant knowledge and experiences considered. With 2,000+ members there can't be too many problems that havn't been solved by somebody. Keeps us from having to reinvent the wheel all the time, and cuts down on expensive trial & error. BTW I thought the link Henry posted was well organized . I'll bet one of the moderators or administrators of this site could organize this effort. Just my thoughts. Guest Anonymous
Everybody, I created a make-it-yourself FAQ tool a while back that you/we might want to use for just this purpose. Check it out at: http://dkg.elmo-the-dog.com/cgi-bin/faqinator.cgi You can enter your own questions, with or without answers, and add answers to existing questions (click on the hex nut next to the question. Guest Anonymous
I can help out by asking lots of questions- But seriously if people asked questions it would help a lot, as some things that could be missed would not.
