zolorin
They rock, you defenetely get another 2-5 HP out of them -- Much smoother running (they are hot plugs) The only down side is they are expensive $8+ a pop otherwise a good buy
Guest joeyhammer
anyone knwo the ngk number for them? for a 83 turbo? i can get them cheaper.
Guest De Schmaydee
stock would be bpr6eix i got bpr7eix (a step cooler) they didnt work well. i dont think they are "the thang" for a zcar. i took mine out and got splitfires. iridiums are very durable and good for some of the newer cars w/coil packs and wasted spark ignition systems but if you dont have one of those i dont think i would get 'em... .....s
jgkurz
Great info. Just curious, why do you say they would work better with wasted spark ignitions? If they're still in good shape maybe I should buy them from you?
Oltmann
"Do what the manual says." Platinum and iridium and the rest of the exotic metals used in spark plugs these days have a higher impedence than copper. That means that you have to apply more voltage to achieve the same amount of spark energy. Modern ignition systems, multicoil systems in particular, are designed to overcome the impedence of these metals. Older systems may not be able to do it though, and you should really use copper. You will have to replace them more frequently, but it isn't hard to do on an L6.
Guest De Schmaydee
......getting the cooler plug (and it being iridium) was a mistake. these things carboned up w/in a week. i dont think you'd be pleased w/the results. w/the bpr6eix it may (would) be different but i dont think it would do well w/the stock ignition system..... ....s
