Guest sukow2001
I know you can build a 3.1 liter stroker engine using the 280z block and head, but I was wondering if you can with 280zx block and a p79 head? If so, is making the stroker the same processes as using the 280z block and head?

HIWAY ONE
The 280zx block is the same as the 280z
Guest Anonymous
Actually the 79 and 80 zx block are the same as the 75-78. The 81-83 blocks are actually better for the stroker setup. They are the F54 block which is the same block for the turbo and n/a. The only difference is the flattop pistons. The f54 block has some webbing in between some of the cyl bores to increase rigidity. This is helpfull with the amount of overbore you need. Now, you asked about the p79 head so you must have an 81-83 n/a. You have the right block. The p79 head could definately be used. Most people choose the n42 head because of it's higher compression and square exhaust ports. I choose the p79 because I already had it, I read that the intake exhaust runners are designed better because of the deeper chambers, the Chambers are a better design. Also from what I have read the round exhaust ports are pretty much equal with the square, and I had the head shaved, and cam towers shimmed to increase the compression. You have an empty bank account and alot of research ahead of you to do the stroker.
