fl327
have you finished your suspension yet? heres the good part about efi on a 280z its already there! just put the fuel hoses to the same place as you already have them no mods to tank, it has baffles right now im using a tranny cooler as an oil cooler, doesnt work too good. Im going up to an RVsized oil cooler For some reason only auto zxt had oil cooler i believe Colder oil mean better lubrication, better lube means (sp) mo(more) BOOST. Guest ON3GO
suspension is done, im putting it all together now i just still cant find anybody to section my struts .. still looking to get stainless steel brake lines too. i was think of getting my friends FC RX-7 oil cooler but its big, and im gonna be lacking space because of my FMIC and such. so i dont need to do anything to my gas tank when putting in the 280ZX turbo motor! john kosmatka
The manual trans zxt didnt have oilcoolers. If this is true how much boost can you run. Mike i'm stuck the same place as you. And I also do not know much about fuel management. I'm thinking about going with an sds once the l28et is in, is that a good idea. Things i know you need for the swapAFM ECU injector leads distributor knock sensor-can be left out, ive found that when they get old they get problematic head temp sensor o2-car will run without one, but mpg will be crappy and if other sensors arent workign right with this, youwill foul plug after plug tps the fusible links to ignition and efi good grounds to harness efi relays one is green and one is tan, Would be even more lost if it werent for len, he knows alot about the swap. Any more info on the efi would be helpful. Thanks to all, John
fl327
I dont like the idea of jumping into a standalone if you havent done one before, Its just me. Its not very hard, and the only issues ive had thus far are from loose connectors, and a crappy 02. Once youve mastered how it works, general principles apply and you will have a much easier time learning how to tune a standalone for max power. I wouldnt go to a standalone if the alternatives were so limited, and the fact that the jwt ends up costing almost as much as a haltec setup, or the difference between the two is insignificant if you plan on doing a lot of upgrades. I dont think the oil cooler is a good idea, but since most people dont spend five minutes in full boost, usually a few seconds, not a life or death thing, but it is a good thing to consider.
