fastzcars
Hi there Grumpy. I havn't seen you post for a while, so I wan'ted to ask you if you could run me a sym. dyno run on a combo for me? here it goes. 350 ci chevy 10.1 comp. trick flow twisted wedge heads 200cc. W/64cc chambers. single plane wieand G manifold w/divider. comp cams 276hr-14. I think the specs on the cam are 276 intake 290 exh @ avdert. 220 and 230 @ .050 and .510" lift on both int and exh. and 114 degrees lobe sep. exh. 1 5/8" block huggers. how would it idle.what are your thoughts on it's drivability? Thanks.
jt1
Fastzcars, I have a very similar combo- Trick Flow twisted wedge heads, unported, Ebrock air gap, 750 DP, 10:1, Comp 268AR solid roller, 224/224 @ 050, 525/525 lift, HEI ign., Hooker block huggers. I pulled 308 at the wheels in 92 deg weather with the carb too rich. I have since jetted down and the car is more responsive and pulls harder, but haven't been back to the dyno. This is a very mild setup, idles @ 900, pulls hard off idle and really goes from about 2K on up. It is a very streetable, my wife sometimes drives it to work. grumpyvette
my computer shows that combo at about 440hp/440 tq , thats outstanding power from that engine, but remember computers are only a guide! they can quite easily be wrong so don,t put all your trust in them. as far as drivablity goes that cam should be fine ,its got 400ft lbs of tq from 2000rpm to 6000rpm, which is ideal.(good choice in cams) btw jt1 if your car was 308 rear wheel hp thats about 385 flywheel hp
fastzcars
Thanks for the repleys guys. One more question please . What does the computer 1/4 miler say. 2800lbs. 6 speed w/2.97 first gear. 3.70 rear. 26inch tall drag radials. Hi jt1 ,that sound's exactly what I wanted to hear on drivability. Thanks for releying that. Any other guys w/ similer combos? as they say . Too much is J u s t enough.
jt1
Yeah, I was a little disappointed in the 308 rwhp. Torque peaked at 352 @ 4k, Hp 308 @ 5600. I found out my throttle cable bracket had slipped and the secondaries were only about 75% open. The carb had 69/78 jets, I'm now down to 66/75 and still a little rich. The TW heads are a bear to get the rocker geometry right. Different lenght pushrods for the intake and ex, and the jig-type pushrod lenght checkers don't work on the TW's. Still a very docile, streetable combo that gets 20 mpg, and the 5.0 stangs never knew what hit 'em.
