Guest szlash280z
after all that stuff, I got the engine to start everytime now! EASY swap! at least if all your components worked the first time it would be easy! My oil cooler works! Problems again! even with my distributor retarded all the way I am running at around 33*BTDC! Yippee! I get to retime my oil pump by myself! should be fun!
Lockjaw
Well you may want to make sure the damper has not slipped, because if it has, you will be retiming in vain. Good luck, I would pull out the number one sparkplug, and eyeball the piston just to be sure it is at the top when the marks line up. Guest szlash280z
the damper is fine, I think I timed the pump according to N/A procedures in the How to rebuild your Datsun OHC engine book. They don't really list turbo stuff at all in there. The 83 FSM shows the gears lining up differently than what I originally did. (I got the 83FSM long after installing the oil pump before) I can't catch a break! as soon as I got the oil pump off and started to try and get it relined back up, it started raining! Rains everyday here this summer! ugh! I am really proficient in taking my radiator out though, I can do it in less than 5 minutes! I need a better way to mount my electric fan so I don't have to keep taking the radiator out for stuff.
