Vg30DE in Z31?

I remember reading somewhere that the Vg30de came in the Z31 over in Japan as an option. I forget what it was called, but it wasn't 300zx,it was like 300zr or something. I have an 88 300zx,and I want to drop a Vg30de into it. Where can I get a decent Vg30de for a good price? Also, where would I get those motor mounts from? I've used the search, but nothing turned up.

you might want to check on z31.com I believe the vg30de and vg30dett were the engine options offered on the 89 300zx fairlady there, could be wrong but seems to be the way I recall reading it, and if you are still looking for the motor you might as well go for the dett, the yards around here don't charge much more for the turbo motor, just an idea

I think the only problem with the Dett is size. I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere that it doesnt fit well. If it does,I'd get that one in a second.

I wasn't aware that they made a Vg30DET. I thought it only came NA or TT. The TT is a tight fit in the Z32 itself from what I've seen. What transmission would I use for this engine? I don't know why I didn't think of this, but would the 2jz-gte engine be a better option? Would it have more space, etc.

When modifing this engine, could I use aftermarket VG30DETT parts? Or do I have to track down aftermarket VG30DET parts? Also, are the motor mounts the same for the DET and DETT?

the RB26 is almost like the 2JZ in size and a guy in japan put a RB26 in his Z31 and it took alot of work... very cool but alot of money i bet.

i have a VG30DE in my Z32 and i loved it... great motor... just alot of money to make power out of and parts are alot of money for that motor..

why dont u just put in a stock USDM Z31 turbo motor in it and build it up, or a SR20DET, or a FJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what I read, the Vg30et can't be taken that high in horsepower. I was thinking the Sr20,but I don't think it will be strong enough for the weight of the car.

so far so good.... they havent had any probs yet with it and thats with alot of miles on that motor..

i mean you can build it up and push that power even safer...its up to you.

there was a post on this site about this SR20 motor thats making that power. a shop near me in FL did it.

i think all it had was cams, 1000cc injectors, intake mainfold, big turbo, full exhaust, Motec EMS and 110 leaded race gas, and maybe a few other bolt ons..

I'd really like to keep the VG engine in the car. I know the SR20 can put out,but the VG is easier for me to get parts for. It also has a higher stock hp output,so I don't have to do that much to get it where I want it.

Edit:I found out what an FJ20det(or Fj24de) engine is. Does anyone know more about putting the Vg30det into the z31? I've found one website, but I don't think he is updating it anymore.
