Someone told me about a Ford cam in a 280, can it be done?

a guy who has been around zcars his whole life said he put a Ford cam in his car which came out of a older 3.0 straight six. he said it was around 500-510 lift. he said there was no modification necessary. could it be done, or is he blowing smoke? he had it in his 280z with a built motor carbs and rayjay turbo kit.

I seriously doubt that, unless he had the Ford engine in his Z.

The datsun motors are overhead cam and the old ford's weren't so it is unlikely to me as well.

A cam grinder can put a ford grind on a L6 cam. Maybe that is what he was talking about. The profile not the cam itself.
