Guest jt240z
I'm getting ready to do my second turbo motor in a new car1. The car is a 1970 series I 240Z. My plan is to use a Haltech E6K to perform fuel and ignition management. The E6K can interface directly with the MSD's DIS-4 ignition system and use it in multichannel wasted spark mode. The total ignition system I'm planning will consist of: Haltech E6K (total ignition MAP control) driving the MSD DIS-4(Wasted spark driver with multi spark) into 3(Qty) 2nd Gen. RX-7 leading coils driving NGK Irridium plugs via Accel 300+ 8.8mm spiral core wires. My concern is having good ignition at high boost (20psi) at 7000+ RPM's. Has anyone used MSD's DIS-4 system in their Z yet? What were your results? Thanks for any input.
yo2001
I talked to a guy who has a similar setup inhis Miata. He didn't like it because coilpack keeps burning up on his car. He was using RX-7's I think
Guest jt240z
I've heard that if you have the MSD DIS-4 HO, that will happen. The HO version puts out 170mJ of power, but the standard unit will only put out 115mJ of power. Most coils can't handle the 170mJ of output for any duration. I thnik that's why MSD does not recommend the HO version for street use. Does anyone else know of any issues related to the DIS box?
