Heavy Z
Hello everyone, my 240 needs an R200 and I was hoping to get imput on the best unit to go with. It is set up with a 327/325 with a T5 from a camaro. Any recommendations? Also, any knowledge of expected top end mph and 5th gear rpm at highway cruising speeds would be appreciated. Thanks, Brett
Guest Anonymous
You didn't mention what ratio rear end, but cruising at 65 in 5th I'd guestimate 2200-2500 rpms. Top speed, I'm going to say in the 130's, I had mine at 125 and pulling strong with a stock 350 T56 combo, but I'm guessing that at some point past that wind resistance will make it self real known and it'll stop pulling that 5th gear at that point. Lets just say it seems REALLY fast in the small confines of a Z car sitting that close to the ground IMHO, its just as well, I don't recon' wanting to be a pilot in a Z car. Heavy Z
From reading past posts, it seems like I should go with a 3.7 - but also they've mentioned a kit that adds internal components to an R200 to make it LSD. Does anyone know where to get this kit? Thanks, Brett
Heavy Z
I just read the recent post about asking questions in the right forum. I'll go to the drivetrain forum with this question soon w/ regard to the LSD kit. Brett
Phantom
I've run the gearing charts for a T-56, 3.7:1 LSD & 225/50-16 tires. It works out to 220 MPH at 5,500 RPM in 6th (.5:1). Fourth gear (1:1) would be 110 MPH with that set up. If you can locate some 3.23:1 gears you could get it to 126 in fourth at 5,500 and 168 in 5th (.75:1. My stock L28 Z with 135 rear wheel HP will do 125. 300 HP should push that up to the 150-170 range, depending on gearing.
