mobythevan
I was thinking of putting a hood scoop from a 300zx turbo onto my 240z hood to help cool the L6 turbo after doing the turbo swap. I am curious to see pics if anyone has done this.
fl327
you have to beat me to it! just kidding. the 300zxt hood scoop looks good, and works just as good, im going to use it on my car soon.
Guest szlash280z
if they work so good, why did they only use them on the 84 and 85 Z31T's?
mobythevan
Well, I know they water cooled the turbo on later model 300zx's. Not sure why they wouldn't keep the scoop for additional cooling unless someone just didn't like the look of it?
Guest ON3GO
hehe im doing that too, but im doing something else along with it.... ... sneaky me!
Guest bastaad525
I've seen two 240's with that scoop and it looked pretty cool. Most people, myself included, just throw the later 280 hood on there, the vents are functional and help to keep temps 'low' in there. I definately like the vented hood over the plainjane 240 hood. Guest szlash280z
everytime I open my hood, I am astounded by the heat that comes out! I have the vented hood and I run with the hood popped a lot too and it still gets really hot. My gauge reads hot as well, I still haven't verified what exact temp it is running, even with my meat thermo. At least it wasn't over heating like my previous sender said, the meat thermo verified that (I used it then, but not since). My fuel rail gets super hot too, I thought it would be better with the aluminum block rail but it wasn't. It just looks cooler.
Guest Cusp
Here's a peek at one, owned by a member of this board in Norcal. http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_a/413000-413999/413440_7_full.jpg
Guest szlash280z
that looks pretty cool, but wouldn't there be a problem in the rain with it scooping in rain and possibly cracking something?
