Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
I was getting ready to put my carbs back onto the intake manifold and I was toying with an idea of making thicker spacers for the carbs. Maybe even a tube with a flange on each side. Now, I have already thought of the fact that this would bring the carbs much closer to the inner fender and this shouldnt pose a problem as I already plan to make a whole new air delivery system that would need much less space in that area. The question I have is, would making a thicker spacer make much of a difference? I have noticed significant performance increase and throttle response in the 350 in my truck when I added a 1" spacer but I have also heard that the effect is more noticable in larger engines. It would seem to me that a thicker spacer would increase velocity as well as atomization time and should make a noticable performance difference. Oh ya, 280 motor, 2 SU's. denny411
I think the big difference would be at high rpm`s where intake velocity is greatest. I believe you would get similiar gains from the l28 because you are not increasing the intake port width or height. The gains should be proportional to cubic inches.
