Do I really need a 1/2 inch spacer for hybrid turbo t4e-57?

I have a T3/T4E 57 Trim.

I tried to put the turbo on in the weekends and it fits just perfectly. It's close against the motor though so I don't know if I need some spacings between the motor and the turbo or not? Does it really matter? If it could be bad for the turbo then I'll have to have a machine shop make me a 1/2 inch or 3/8 inch spacer.

Yes, you want the spacer. You want to get that compressor side away from the exhuast manifold as far as possible. I think I used a 1/2 spacer on mine. If you want, you can even try to fabricate a better shield to fit in there too. You'll need longer exhaust studs by the way. I got mine from napa (they were an on the shelf item).

i didn't use a spacer on mine i had the exhaust manifold off so i used a grinder and ground out the metal where it was close to the compressor and put in a heat shield and mine works great.I just didn't want to make another dp after i spent so much on the one i had.

used a spacer for mine, but had to do since im going to run full t04e.

good idea to make a shield or use a little header wrap where the compressor is close to manifold.

Did you guys have to use 2 gaskets inside and outside of the 1/2 inch spacer?

Yes. You have to use two gaskets. One on either side of the spacer.

oh ya forgot to mention i have a hybrid turbo t3/t4e with a .70ar on the compressor so it is big
