TomoHawk
when the car is warming up in the driveway, some black sootty stuff spits out of the muffler onto the driveway. Same for awarm engine. I don't think it's oil, because the level in the engine stays up and the exhaust isn't smokey. And the tip is covered with soot inside. Could the engine be running too ruch or something? I thought the computer would control things. Thx.
Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
Can be from a rich mixture, but more specifically, it's incomplete burn. This could be from a rich mix, weak spark (dirty plugs, improper gap, or weak coil), or dirty/blocked air intake.
TomoHawk
I checked the plugs last week and #3,4,5 looked normal. #1,2 & 6 had oil on the threads. the coil 'looks' old, so I think I will change that out and maybe even the spark plugs & wires just to refresh things. I will probably have to get a look at the distributor over the weekend (after the hurricane passes through).
