BayAreaZT
I just got my camel hump heads rebuilt and I'm ready to put them back on. I've never done any type of engine assembly so I have a few basic question. Is it as simple as bolting them back on to the correct torque and adjusting the valve lash? Let me know if I'm missing anything or if anyone has any helpfull tips. I would like to use my old rocker arms but they were not kept in order. If I reuse them, do I have to get new pushrods or does it not matter that they will not be paired with the same pushrod.

Guest Anonymous
Hello, It does not matter about the pushrod/rocker matching. On the heads you will need to use sealant on the head bolt threads. I suggest using Permatex #2 which is available at most speed shops. There are others to use, but I use what I have had luck with in the past. Also use silicone on the water ports on the intake side of the head and some sort of high tack sealant on the intake ports. As for the manifold, do not for any reason use those little black manifold end pieces, they tend to leak. Just clean the intake and the block very well with acetone, then lay a good size bead of RTV down, torque the manifold then wipe of excess. Adjust lash according to the manual. Good luck.
