Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
I have noticed that my taillight on the driver's side is falling apart. The lense is coming apart from the whitish colored housing. Upon inspection, I see that this is not the first time that this has happened with this car because it looks like there are about three different glues around the edge from it being glued back together. I figure I should probably take it completely apart and remove the old glues, but I am at a loss as for how to get it back together and keep it that way. Anyone have any recommendations? I was thinking contact cement, but not sure how that would hold on these plastics. Can this be sealed air-tight all around or is there supposed to be a gap anywhere for heat to come out? Tim240z
If you look at the auto parts store or Home Depot, you will find a 2 part epoxy especially for plastics. It dries white in color. Works fairly well. Tim
Sumo
Try using Permatex Clear Silicone Adhesive at any auto parts store, the epoxy tends to become brittle after a while while the silicone will remain pliable and clear enough from a few feet away and will seal good too.
