Guest Anonymous
Hello all... First things first. This site has got to be the best model specific site I have ever seen! Great Place! Anyway...to cut to the chase. I want to do a V8 conversion in a 260Z or 280Z. I am a Pontiac person at heart, but would have no problem with a Chevy 350. What am I getting myself into? I am very mechanically inclined and would easily do any fabricating or modifying to the car as necessary. What I would like to know is...what would the best 260z or 280z donor car be? What years? Does it really matter? Do the rear ends hold up with a V8 in the nose? Do I have to worry about twisting frames? Where are the tell tale areas on the body or frame to look for when it comes to rust or weak components in the 260s and 280s? Is it really worth the trouble? I hope that isn't too many questions at once, but I have been looking at your site for 2 weeks now and the uncontrollable urge to get this summer project underway is Killing ME! Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance...Kenny
Z-Gad
First things first...Welcome!! Now second, pick up the V8 conversion manual from JTR http://www.customconversion.com/ Many of your initial Q's will be answered there. It is also an excellent reference. As for the car you choose, Do emissions play a part in Colorado? If so, you may wish to look at pre-74 Z cars. I am sure others will chime in here Regards, Mike
Guest Anonymous
Z-Gad... Yes to emissions in Colorado, but I know a few shops in town. Thanks for the link to the manual
