Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
Not sure what the part would be called, maybe the logic circuit? Need the part for the turn signal switch that controls the turn signals and brake lights. Can anyone tell me what this is called and where I can get a new one? My local parts store doesnt seem to keep these kind of parts for older vehicles. BTW, I am just assuming that this is what I need, my right turn signal works and my right brake light works and my left brake light occaisionally works and the left turn signal never works. Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
Ok, I guess what I am looking for (according to Chilton manual) is the combination switch and the hazard switch. These are in the column, if any one else needs this info.
Guest thomasat
Did the new switch fix your problem? none of my blinkers work, but the tail lights come on as well as the parking lights. There is no blinking arrow in the dash either. Perhaps the switch, I was going to replace the relay but thats just the thing that makes it go on and off. If you look at the wireing diagram everthing appears to be connected to the hazard lights, which also don't work. Any help would be slick. Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
I couldnt find a source anywhere for a new switch. I am going to just take the current one out and clean up the contacts. Check to see if your hazard lights work. If they do not then the source of your problem is somewhere else.
Guest thomasat
The hazards are out, but i was guessing that the switch was broken on the hazards, because it hangs limp from the dash (73). I guess I'll replace the hazard switch before i start on the rest. If your looking for the multi-switch that controlls the lights and the turn signals, there are a couple on e-bay for about 10$. I saw them in the classified forum here. Otherwise just go to e-bay. Thats my next step.
EvilRufusKay
Nic, I had a bunch of problems with blinkers, stop lights etc... I found that corrosion along the entire system ie.. the switch plug points, bulb sockets, factory but-connector, etc... all had corrosion that was over causing excessive resistance and therefore overheating the system. My switch would get so hot that the main power wires would de-solder themselves from the switch. After re-sodering them twice I began to investigate all the wiring and that was when I noticed the corrosion. You can't see it untill you pull apart the connectors, but I garuntee it is there. After I went thru and cleaned all connection points and once again sodered ( i know i am spelling that wrong) the power wires I have not had any problems. In fact the light intensity was substantially higher. Funny how that works!!! I don't think you are going to be able to get the part new that you are looking for. No Nissan dealer ( at least around here) has any type of electrical parts for the old Z's. Rufus EDIT= I stand corrected VB has them..see this thread http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=28646&highlight=
