  1. Yes I am talking about using the Q45 Struts and Springs, but my car is a 280. I plan on using the auto out of the Q45 in my setup for now as it was just rebuilt 6 months ago. I also have the complete wiring harness and ECU. I even pulled the interior harness so I can hook up the Q45 power leather seats that are in great condition.
  2. Thanks for the reply Marc. I have been reading about your build on your site and was quite impressed. Fine work! I originally had other ideas for the Z, but unfortunately had to sell off all of my collected suspension parts at a time that life was more important than my project. Since it will take me a long time to acquire those parts again, this direction will at least allow me to finish the car. Tell me if you would, do you think I will be able to use the struts and springs? I am not concerned with height as I know I can shorten / lengthen them. I am more concerned with the width in regard to being able to adjust camber / caster. Do you think the weld in adjustable cam/cas plates would have enough slot to make it work? Also, would you mind if I shoot you a PM once in a while to ask your opinion on future aspects of the project? Currently I am trying to familiarize myself with the motor so I can plan my rebuild. Any advice on research material would be appreciated. Thanks again! Rufus
  3. Hey Guys, Been a while since I wrenched on the Z. Been too busy with working on other peoples cars at night, building my bike, fixing my house etc. That has all changed though since I picked up a 95 Q45 for 400 bones. It has 250 k on the motor but she was running strong when I pulled it out (what a pain in the neck… my advice is to remove the cats before puling on of these beasts….). I pulled the tranny and was about to pull the diff when the dementia set in…. I figure why bother modding the existing Z suspension to use the Q45 Diff.. I know not much is needed however I was going to convert to disks…swap to 5 lug hubs etc… Heck why not mod the Z to accept the whole rear sub-assembly? Then I got even more demented and decided to do the same thing with the front! To install the engine and tranny into the Z I would have to build mounts etc… Whay not mod the Z to accept the front crossmember, and suspension assembly? Again it has a good 2 piston braking system, 5 lug hubs, as well as a power steering rack. The Z is still on the rotisserie so making the mounting points for the front and rear sub assemblies will be a bit easier than if I had it on a lift (which I have 2 of now BTW!!!) sorry I had to throw that in there! Anyone have some advice for me, besides ‘smoke another one’? Thanks! ERK
  4. Nice find! FWIW I sold my used greasy Scarab bellhousing for 300 bones about a year and a half ago. Also I have a pair of motor mounts for the carab setup and a Tranny if interested.
  5. Not sure if this has been posted. I did a search and it didn't show up... http://us.video.aol.com/video.index.adp?mode=2&pmmsid=1656185
  6. Anyone know the exact diffferences in a 260 and 280 poly bushing set? Selling my 280 set on ebay and someone has asked me it it will fit a 260. Pretty sure there are some differences, just don't know what they might be. Thanks!

  8. Maybe a list of us and our orders would be in "order?"
  9. Sorry to hear about your loss. I am sure you will get the itch again.
  10. Where would the world be without the piles of BS spouted by salesmen? Hold on I need a sip of my mango flavored green tea with ginseng root and ginko biloba extract...
  11. Funny but... "Miscellaneous Tech Discussions of technical related subjects pertaining to Hybrid Z's that don't seem to fall into the other forum groups." Best to put this in the NON-Tech forum.
  12. Thank you Pete much obliged!
  13. Thanks pete. It used to be if you hosted the image yourself, size (both file and pixel) did not matter. I can no longer link my avatar to my website however.
  14. This is in the right forum isn't. Or did I post in the "nobody cares stop yer crying forum?"
  15. Let me know ISK. My brother would rock a set of those on his jacket for sure!! Just the patches though... not the vest thing...
  16. What is deemed legal and not legal does not always make sense. i have a pair of headphones for my phone which plays mp3's. My brother tells me you can,t wear those it is illegal... What I find intersting is that even fully cranked I can still here someone talking or if I say snap my fingers. But his 1000 watt amp can drown out a convo even if you are down the block... Also probably not legal but definately tollerated...
  17. I took my old solid rotors to my lathe and cut off the top of the hats. Then milled abot 5 thou of each side = free kinda heavy, but it worked out well! FYI JSK is no longer doing Datsun stuff... or so I am told.
  18. Still (after about a year) having trouble loading and avater. Dan you were kind enough to load my animated GIF about a year back, but the file size was huge because I gave you the wrong link or image. I asked Pete P to fix me up and I supplied him a nice 11k .png image that happens to be larger than 50 x 50. I could host it myself but I get errors everytime I do. It might be looked at as petty but the av I have now is so tiny (auto resized for some reason) that if it were my doink I would cut it off to spite its pathetic size.... ok probly not...but you get the picture. I know I know you have a bazillion other things with the site that are more important... but your help would be appreciated! Here is a link to the image I would like to use. http://users.adelphia.net/~evilrufuskay/Evil%20Works.png Thanks! Rufus

  21. Yo!! Does I hear my main nizzle Dan Juday tawkin smack?!?!? Z-Money!!!!
  22. RacerX - Thanks man that is just what I am looking for!! Quite right. Here is the deal. I have some rims that I painted a metallic Blue and they look pretty cool... but they would look really cool if they were just a shade darker. I started thinking about candy types of paint jobs and I thought of a bike I used to have. The previous owner had a candy orange paint job done with flames. What was cool was that the painter used an acetylene torch with just the acetylene on (makes huge amounts of black smoke) and held it under the inverted tank (flames still taped off). The result was that the flames were made of just the smoke and you could see the orange underneath... it was super sweet... too bad it was a Virago. So that is what I would like to do, use the blue as a base but then coat it with a uniform (the flames were not uniform in tone) smoke. Thoughts?
