edelbrock holley red .... still not running right

i posted a week or so ago and i was told i was running lean, so i aquired a fuel pressure gauge and sure enough i was running only 3 psi at idle. i got rid of the crappy electric pump i had and i put in a holley red tonite, it didnt fix my problem. the problem is that when the motor is warm, no matter what gear if i floor it it bogs then goes like all hell, its a stock motor out of a truck with a truck cam and 882 heads so im not expecting too much from it but it just doesnt seem as fast as it should be. the edelbrock is a 1405, im thinking it may be the manifold, at a swap meet last year i picked up a rather tall weiand that is single plane with a divider plate. ive been running with the plate in it. could that be why it runs like that at low rpms? and would a cam help smooth it out a little bit? i bought the tall manifold so that i could judge where i would want my motor and im happy to say i have less than 3/16 of an inch between the modified aircleaner nut and my drop base edelbrock aircleaner. anyways. im also only running points right now but everything in there is new, the motor has good compression and pulls 18.5in of vac at idle. i have two fuel filters set up, but they are between the pump and the carb. i dont know if that would cause the problem, i thought about adjusting the accelerator pump but havent had time to yet. let me know if i need to provide anymore information. i appreciate any help advice suggestions... anything :) -pete

are you running a relay to the fuel pump?

I would verify voltage before going into the carb or anything like that.

I run a relay to the fuel pump-14.4 avg voltage.

Most fuel pump outputs are rated when 14v applied to them.

You have the points adjusted right right?

what kind of carb are you running?

see what kind of voltage you are getting to the pump, fuel pressure sounds really low for v8, should be 5 psi or so for a relatively stock v8.

well with the holley red i get 5 pounds of pressure exactly, and at full throttle under hard acceleration it drops to about two, i WAS only getting 3psi before. the carb is an edelbrock 1405, the only thing i know how to adjust on the points is the dwell with a dwell meter, and its set at 35, my timing is at 8 degrees BTDC. i can check voltage to the pump tomorrow

ihave a regulator inline. should i remove it to run the holley red?
