Guest Anonymous
Howdy Body Kits and Paint crew! I am taking my cars paint off via sanding, I was wondering what grit I should use to properly prepare the surface for primer. And secondly what grit to use for smoothing out runs and peels. You responses are greatly 'preciated. Thanks. Nathan
Guest 6.6l_zcar
I use 40 grit to get all the old paint of. graduate to 180-320 to prep to prime, however depending on your paint type (single stage or 2 stage) it depends on what grit to get out runs
Nismo280zEd
use 400 till you prime then 400 wet then prime again and use 600 wet otherwise you can see the sanding marks under the color. -Ed
Guest Anonymous
Hey guys thanks for helping me out. I believe the car has recieved a few coats of paint in the past. Should I take the car down to the bare metal or just scuff it up for paint? Again thanks for the comments! Nathan
