Guest jeff1216
What is stock for a 1978 280Z?
RedNeckZ
You have dished pistons in it, if it is still has not been rebuilt. The 280ZX came with flat tops. hope that helps.
Guest V8wannabe
I believe the "N42" block had dished pistons and the "F54" had flattops. Unless your engine was swapped you should have N42 (dished pistons).
texasz
As far as the F54 block goes, you would have dished pistons only if it was a turbo, it it was a non-turbo then you will have flat-top pistons. I do not know about the other blocks off hand.
preith
Another way to look at it would be by the cylinder head. The P79's found on the ZX's ('79 and later) had a much larger combustion chamber and need the flattops to maintain the proper compression ratio.
