Guest Nic-Rebel450CA
My SU's are making me mad again! I just recently rebuilt them, and they are still running great, however, a problem has now resurfaced. A problem that I was having before was the throttle being too jumpy off of idle causing the car to jump. During the rebuild, I determined that the butterfly on one of the carbs was sticking against the inner wall of the carburetor as it opened off of idle. At that time, I gently filed the edge of the butterfly and the inner bore of the carburetor and that worked beautifully for about a couple weeks. Now the carburetor is doing the same thing again! I dont want to have to keep pulling the carburetor off of the engine to fiddle with it's insides, but I cant think of what to do to provide a more permanent solution. Any ideas? (BTW, I am not up for purchasing replacements or having any expensive work done because this engine is only being used to keep the car going while I save up for my swap)
johnc
Worn throttle shaft bushings. The shaft is moving around more then it should. Replace the throttle shaft bushings.
