Guest animated_life
I'm doing a rebuild on my 1983 350 and I don't know where to go to get the specs for the rod and main journals on the crank to see what size bearings i need to buy to replace the old ones. Does anyone know of a good site / resource that has these tolerances listed?

denny411
Take a look in the engine specs section of your chiltons/haynes manual. The main and rod journal diameters should be listed there. If you don`t have a good micrometer or caliper set, you might want to take the crank to a local machine shop to have it checked. Diameter is ONLY one of several checks that need to be made. 1) jounal diameter 2)taper (from side to side) 3)out of round (should be checked at three different degrees of rotation,IMO) 4) fingernail, Drag your fingernail across(side to side) the jounal. If you feel any roughness, the crank will need to be polished or possibly turned.
