Guest loco280zx
I was wondering if a t56 would bolt up to my carberated 350 and if so what would I need to do this setup?
Guest BigWhyteDude
it should just bolt right up to the engine if i am not mistaken.
Wagz
What year is the block? If the motor is carbed, then it is most likely the old 2 piece rear main ('85 and older) block. If that is the case, the T56 will not bolt-up directly without a custom bellhousing or flywheel/clutch setup. Do a search in the drive train forum. There is a ton of information regarding this subject.
jonzer12
It has been discussed here that you can buy the adaptive bellhousing, I did also comeacross a company (stemmed from a link for this site) that sold the T-56 and the bellhousing all ready to go. Mike kZ
A '93 to '97 T56 will bolt up to a chevy block. But you need a special flywheel, and clutch to make it work. ( Centerforce has these)
deMideon
You can also use the Weir bellhousing and hydraulic throwout bearing, this allows you to use a "normal" clutch and flywheel. It also removes the slave from sticking out on the side and interfering with the exhaust.
Guest Grenade300
I typed the below paragraph in a previous post, it seems to apply here, the site I'm refering to is http://www.ddperformance.com Hey guys, I just found a website that sells a T-56 transmission and adaptor plate so you can mount a T-56 to a T-5 or other bellhousing, which means that you can use a T-5 clutch assembly(YAHOO). I also found out that the weird electronic speedo sensor on the LT1 and LS1 T-56 is something that Tremmec did only for GM trannys, so these T-56 trannys heve an output for a regular gear driven speedo cable. This website also sells the Dodge Viper T-56 tranny(550 ftlb capable) and adaptor plate to mount it to a chevy 5 speed bellhousing for all of you nuts who want to achieve those insane torque ratings but worry about your trannys busting. I don't know if you'll have seen this site or not, but check it out. The regular T-56(450 ftlb capable) and adaptor plate goes for about $2000 and the Viper tranny goes for about $2500.
